Animals in Hawaii

FRIDAY PHOTO SHOOTOUT - Animals
Topic by B&B

Peacock at Waimea Valley

I took this photo while having lunch in Waimea Valley. The males emit a loud CAW! while spreading their feathers to attract females.

Green sea turtle (Honu) at Laniakea Beach

Also called "Turtle Beach" Lani's frequent visitors include the endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle.

Bottle-nosed dolphins at Kahala Hotel

Though not in their native habitat, Dolphin Quest provides individuals with the unique opportunity to interact with these intelligent creatures.

Rock crab (A'ama) at Kakaako Waterfront Park

Golden Plover in Mililani

These slender creatures migrate from the US mainland to Hawaii in the spring. A fine looking bird if you ask me.

Japanese Mejiro in Pearl City

A friend and I did a little bird watching to catch a glimpse of the illusive Japanese Mejiro. A highly adaptable songbird, the Mejiro was first introduced on Oahu in 1929 and now populates all of the Hawaiian islands.

You are very lucky to live where there is so much colorful wildlife to be seen.

Thanks for joining our town shoot outs. Next weeks subject will be easier. Not sure what it will be yet.

That last little bird is so cute.

Great work. I will come back to view more!

Thanks again Patty, I must admit though, the honu, peacock and dolphins were from previous posts. Shhh... don't tell anyone!

WELCOME ABOARD!!! We are all so thrilled that you've joined us for Friday Shoot-Outs!!
My...your pictures are amazing Lucky. I too have a peacock, but he wouldn't open his plumage for me that day. I love the Plover...oh it's just too hard to pick a favorite :)
Patty and I started this little friendly Friday fun as a way to showcase our beautiful hometowns.
It's like seeing the world for free and I've loved every minute of it! Please, please, please stay with us....this is taking on a life of it's own.
If you have a moment or two of your lift that you'd care to waste, please visit me at my blog and say hello.
Have a weekend filled with love, joy and laughter and......

Steady On

Hey Reggie Girl. Glad to see you made it to Hawaii. Nice here, isn't it?

Hope you join us next week. I am trying to come up with a better way to let everyone know who is participating. A kind of map guide.
