Kilauea Lighthouse and Bird Sanctuary

Kilauea lighthouse was built in 1913 and was served as a pivotal point of reference for ships bound to the orient.

The Nene goose is Hawaii's state bird. It is illegal to even touch a Nene.

Why did the Nene (Goose) cross the road?

Lovely photos!! How did I ever live without blogging before, not able to see pictures of places that I can personally never see, and all from the view of someone's camera right there!! The lighthouse is just lovely. And the goose, I never saw a picture of Hawaii's state bird before. It is so pretty. And interesting that it is so "sacred", My favorite picture is of the baby bird though, what a fantastic shot you were able to get!!! Have a good Tuesday. Lovely post. Debby

I am so happy I found your blog, I love Hawaii and enjoyed this post on Hawaii's state bird the goose. I am a "birder" a person that loves to see different birds. I enjoyed your photos of Kauai, hubby and I honeymooned there. It is a beautiful place you live and you are lucky.

Happy New Years to you and yours.
